NAT 2 : OL win the Olympico (2-0)
On the last matchday, Les Gones did not have the opportunity to play owing to the interruption of the match against Marignane in the 5th minute due to unsustainable weather conditions. It is therefore with a little more rest, but less playing time in their legs than their opponents, that OL approach this Olympico. In the table, Marseille are ahead by a single point and fresh from a great victory (1-0) obtained against the side to have last beaten OL: Louhans Cuiseaux.
The two teams start in the same system: a 4-4-2 on defense and a 4-2-3-1 in attack. In the ranks of Lyon, the Griffiths-Cherki pair started in attack and on defense, Bard was played away from his usual left flank, in favor of Anaba, playing centrally alongside Diomandé. As expected, the match starts out even; the battle for midfield is raging and OL miss opening the scoring. The Provençaux are saved by the post on Devarrewaere's powerful strike from outside the area (27 '). Two minutes later, the goalkeeper saves Marseille by pushing a flat shot by Griffiths away at close range from a cross by Coly (29 '). Despite some good opportunities and strong play in the first half hour for the Rhodaniens, the twenty-two players return to the locker room with no score (0-0). It would be up to them to be more decisive and clinical in their last moves to open the scoring in the second half and hope to win.
The intensity, then, is present as soon as the match restarts. After a shot from Cherki, saved by the goalkeeper, Griffiths responds first, but scuffs his shot (50'). The Southerners are doing well, but this is only part of the game. OL get a good free-kick following a foul on the 25-meter line. Cherki takes responsibility and sends the ball into the back of the net on a superb shot that slips under the crossbar (1-0, 59 '). Dominant, Lyon increase the score on a nice bit of collective play. Picked out on the left by Coly, Duku cuts into the middle and passes the ball to Cherki who controls and tucks his shot home (2-0, 77 '). The number 10 thus records a double and is taken off in acknowledgement. In a match in which they were in control throughout, the players of Gueïda Fofana and Philippe Bizeul win logically (2-0) thanks to a flawless collective game.
Carried by its star player, author of a double, the club of Jean-Michel Aulas is full of confidence and can now calmly prepare for the next challenge to come, away to Hyeres.
