ASSE-OL: A win for the ages

By winning at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Sunday, OL took the series lead against Saint-Etienne, their first for a very long time.
OL 25 Jan 2021 2 min

45 wins for OL, 33 draws, 44 wins for ASSE. This is now the overall record in the derby following the 122nd, played at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard yesterday as our Lyonnais won comprehensively. Thanks to this victory, Rudi Garcia's men have now taken the overall lead in this historic rivalry. In fact, since 1956, Olympique Lyonnais have not had a winning record against their historic rival, with Les Verts even having, at the end of the '80s, an advantage totaling 19 victories. But the 2000s have come and gone and since then, Les Gones have caught up, little by little, and now find themselves where they are today. This is a good thing and let's hope that this advantage will continue to be on the side of OL for at least as long as it has been on the side of ASSE.
