Match summary

Olympique Lyonnais traveled to a very cold Denmark on Thursday night to face Brondby in the fifth and penultimate day of the Europa League group stage. Already qualified, Peter Bosz's men were keen to get back into a playing rhythm after the events of the last round in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. With a place already obtained in the round of 16, the Dutch coach saw fit to make some changes to his starting XI. The Lyonnais lacked a sense of coherence from the outset, and struggled to get close to the Danish goal in the first half. It was not until the 21st minute indeed that we would see a first effort from the Rhone side. Despite several chances on the counter, OL lacked a cutting edge in their finishing to worry Hermansen in the first half.

The second half would make the difference in this match, though. The Danes scored the game's first as soon as they got back from the locker room. But this goal would only serve to wake up the Lyonnais. Rayan Cherki signaled the comeback with the first goal for OL, and then saw himself notch a brace with a very nice goal, turning inside to beat his man and finish at the near post. Lucas Paqueta came on late in the game and would set up Islam Slimani, who headed home to allow OL to double the lead. It was thus a fifth victory in five Europa League matches for Peter Bosz’s men this season, as result that sees the team back on track and well prepared to travel to Montpellier this Sunday at 5 p.m.
