Bradley Barcola signs his first professional contract, through 2024
Born in 2002, Bradley Barcola joined OL's academy at the age of eight. Always one who keeps close to goal, the native of Villeurbanne has never left Lyon's training center, moving through the levels one by one. The U19s' top scorer in the 2019/2020 season (17 matches, 11 goals), and a regular starter in Youth League matches, the 19-year-old striker signed a two-year training contract in January 2020 before being called up for the French U-18 team.
With five goals in nine National 2 matches, Bradley Barcola has lately been making a name for himself at the start of the season with Peter Bosz's team, as in the friendly match against Bourg-en-Bresse (one goal, one assist). The announcement of his deal comes a few weeks after those for defender Castello Lukeba (2002), midfielder Mohamed El Arrouch (2004) and goalkeeper Justin Bengui (2005), proving the club's ability to trust in its young players and to prepare for the future.
Bradley Barcola's reaction:
“It is a great point of pride for me to sign this contract. I arrived here playing for the U-9s and it was a dream to be able to sign a professional deal. Those around me are also very proud and that will help me move forward. But this is only the first step. Now it's up to me to continue to prove myself in National 2 and even play for the first team."
