Match summary

Two weeks after a first league win against Nantes, OL had to build on that at home against Strasbourg. In front of an crowd eager for a reunion and for the presentations of the two new signings, Shaqiri and Boateng, the Lyonnais immediately got into the swing of things. 8 minutes into the match, the man of the hour, Dembélé worked wonders with a splendid goal. The captain on the day, he and his teammates showed control, without offering much of a threat to the Alsatians' goal and while remaining under some difficulty from the visitors.

Driven by a brilliant Guimaraes and a clever Shaqiri, Peter Bosz's men had a very fine second half. After having muzzled the Strasbourg attack, Denayer stepped up to double the lead on a corner by the Swiss international. A rather quiet end of the match also gave Boateng an opportunity to also play his first minutes for Lyon, but Paqueta showed his ability to score the third goal of the evening. Strasbourg would pull a goal back in added time from the spot, but OL now have two wins in a row before  before a very busy week marked by trips to face Rangers and then Paris!
