OL-Brest: OL hope for a successful start to the season

OL – Brest : L’OL aime réussir sa rentrée
Set to face Brest this Saturday at Groupama Stadium for the first match of the new Ligue 1 Uber Eats season, OL will try to start things off in the best way possible, something which has become their habit over the last 20 years.

With an intense preseason having just concluded against Porto, Peter Bosz’s men are just days away from a return to league action. Things kick off Saturday at 5 p.m. with a visit from Stade Brestois at the Groupama Stadium, marking the team's return to competition; the first round of league action has generally been a successful one for the club over the past two decades.

OL's last defeat in an opening match dates back to the 2003-2004 season, a narrow 1-0 loss away to Lille, even as the first round of last season, played against Montpellier was a loss after having been postponed past the second round, a win against Dijon. Even more impressive, however, are their statistics in first matches played at home.

The last home loss dates back to the 1999-2000 season. Too, despite an impressive 4-1 victory against Dijon last season in the team's opening match, the Lyonnais saw what had been a very impressive run end, as the club had kept a clean sheet in every first match played at home since the 2000-2001 season, which saw a 2-2 draw against Rennes. Let’s hope that OL can get back into all of their "back-to-school" habits!
