OL Reign : Laura Harvey nommée coach principale
OL Reign announced today that it has appointed Laura Harvey as its new head coach -- Harvey replaces Farid Benstiti, who resigned from his post on July 2.

Laura Harvey was previously the head coach of OL Reign for five seasons, from 2013 to 2017. She won the NWSL coach of the year award in 2014 and 2015. Laura Harvey will assume her role with OL Reign after the end of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where she is currently working as assistant coach of the United States Women's National Team.

After leaving OL Reign in November 2017, she coached the Utah Royals in 2018 and 2019 before joining US Soccer to coach the National Women's Under-20 team in January 2020, with whom she won the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship in the Dominican Republic.

Interim coach Sam Laity will continue to lead the team over its next four matches and will remain with the club as an assistant coach following the arrival of Harvey in early August.

Laura Harvey's reaction

The role I had in U.S. Soccer really has helped me to be a better coach and a better person. I know the club and some of the players well. I am enthusiastic about this challenge and this opportunity. I am excited -- OL Reign is a really special club and I am delighted to be back.

The reaction of Bill Predmore, CEO of OL Reign

I am incredibly happy to welcome Laura back to OL Reign. When she left in 2017, I said she would always be part of our family. Today's announcement is the fulfillment of my goal of one day bringing her home and to our club. She is the perfect person for this role.
