The wait is over! The return of the supporters to an OL match, combined with a first match in charge for Peter Bosz gave a very special flavor to this first friendly of the preseason against Bourg-en-Bresse. Leading the team through what has been a very intense start to the preseason, the newly-installed Dutch coach had logically called on a larger squad than would be customary to start the preseason. From the start of the match, we found the team pressing high, a hallmark of his style, but it would take some time for the Lyonnais to really take control of the match. In a first half without a lot of clear chances, it wouldn't take much for Dembélé to score a double, on passed from first Bossiwa and then Guimaraes, who was captain on the evening.
After a small slip which was immediately punished by Bourg, the Lyon team, which completely changed except for Pollersbeck to start the second half, got back to grips with the game. Slimani, Mendes and Toko Ekambi all created chances within minutes, but it was young Bradley Barcola who widened the gap in his first minutes as a professional. The team's high press stifled the opponents, exemplified by the fourth goal, scored by Slimani. Another youngster from the Academy would then make his mark as defender Lukeba would conclude the scoring in what was truly a beautiful first match of the season. The team is back in action on Saturday against Villefranche, and then Wolfsbourg at Groupama Stadium!
At Stade Pierre Rajon, Bourgoin-Jallieu.
