Damien Da Silva signs for OL through June 30, 2023
Arriving on a free transfer, Damien Da Silva has played more than 380 matches in his career, which began in 2006 in Niort. Having impressed in particular with Stade Malherbe de Caen (2014-2018) and Stade Rennais (2018-2021), with whom he won the Coupe de France in 2019, the central defender has built a solid career at a high level.
During the 2020/2021 season, his seventh consecutive campaign in Ligue 1, Damien Da Silva played 37 matches, including six in the Champions League, scoring four goals in the process. At 33, he was one of the most-used players in the Rennes squad, wearing the captain's armband on each of his starts.
Olympique Lyonnais are very happy to welcome Damien Da Silva to the team, reaffirming their willingness to continue to build an ambitious new project for next season.
Damien Da Silva's reaction:
"It is a great point of pride for me to join Olympique Lyonnais. I am aware I am becoming part of a very big club and I can't wait to wear these new colors. Today I visited the facilities, the stadium, I toured the museum and it really makes you want to be a part of an institution whose ambitions are very high and I'm happy as I think I can still improve here."
