Rudi Garcia avant OL - Nice : "Garder cet état d'esprit collectif"
Coach Rudi Garcia spoke at a press conference to answer journalists' questions two days before facing OGC Nice in the 38th and final round of Ligue 1 Uber Eats. The full press conference can be found on OLPlay.

Medical update

“Tino Kadewere will not be with us. He has had adductor problems and had to be operated on. We will have him back him next season. Djamel Benlamri seems to be getting better. We also get Mattia De Sciglio back from suspension."

Relying on the team's collective strength

“I sense a lot of enthusiasm. The players had a collective state of mind against Nîmes. I liked their reaction after the first goal. I hope the players will be ambitious in this game. That performance will have to be repeated on Sunday. We will need to be at 100% to win this game. Nice have very good players and play well with the ball. We are fourth. We can only do better. We'll have to do the job. We are expected to have 79 points come the end of the match on Sunday night."

The battle with Monaco for the podium

“We will be aware of Monaco's result in Lens. If Lens beats Monaco, we don't need to win. But we will have to do everything to win this match and get the three points so as not to regret anything. We will see  about Monaco's result afterwards."

An impressive record

“The big regret is not being able to overtake everyone on the last day. We have 76 points after 37 rounds. The team's record is excellent. We resumed the season after COVID-19 on June 8, and played the final of the Coupe de la Ligue and the Champions League. We had a week's break in December. Hopefully we will have 79 points on Sunday at 11pm. All told, this season can only be regarded as exceptional."

Memphis, a top player

“Memphis is at the end of his contract. In football, you never know. He has become a man here. This is his home, as he has said. Hopefully he will improve his stats even further on Sunday, which are already exceptional. He is a top player who can play anywhere, at any big club, including Olympique Lyonnais. He has delivered on what I expected from him. He is able to score and to help his teammates score. I've known some great players, and he's one of them. He has the best years of his career ahead of him."

Finishing on the podium

“Olympique Lyonnais is made to play in the Champions League. Let's do the job by beating this Nice team. We'll see what comes of other results later. We should not finish with any regrets. From what I saw in practice on Wednesday, it was the best session the players have had in a long time. I like this team. I take great pleasure in coaching this team."

Houssem Aouar's impressive return

“Houssem Aouar has scored two goals in the last two matches. He had started this season very well, and he's also ending it in the best possible way."
