Nîmes – OL : Pousser à la faute (21h sur Canal +)
A week after a fine display against FC Lorient, Olympique Lyonnais will travel to the Stade des Costières for the 37th matchday of Ligue 1 to face Nîmes, currently second bottom in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. The goal remains the same: to put pressure on Monaco and wait for a misstep from the Principality side.

The context

The team's big win against Les Merlus last Saturday will have given the Lyon players plenty of confidence in their attacking play. Even deprived of regulars like Memphis, Maxence Caqueret and Marcelo, OL were able to get things done, winning easily. The only negative from the weekend remains Monaco’s victory over Stade de Reims, which helped to keep the Monegasques’ one point lead in the standings.

The challenge

Like all the matches in Lyon's end to the season, this match is worth plenty in the race for the podium and indeed the Champions League. Victory is imperative to keep the pressure on AS Monaco and push them to make a mistake. In the event of Lyon losing and Monaco winning OL's European hopes would be definitively ended just one round from the end of the season. Any result other than a victory is therefore to be avoided.

The opponent

Second-bottom in Ligue 1 Uber Eats but still in the race for survival, Nîmes, like the Lyonnais, have everything to play for on this 37th round. Already winners against LOSC (1-2) and OM (1-2) this season, the Southern side have shown that they can be dangerous, even as an underdog. We will have to be wary of Renaud Ripart and Zinédine Ferhat, who are, respectively, Les Crocos' top scorer and assists leader, as Nîmes will want to emerge victorious from this potentially tricky match. It’s up to OL to be clever enough not to be bitten by these Crocos.
