In a thrilling end to the match on Sunday night against AS Monaco, Rayan Cherki impressed after coming on by scoring the winning goal in the dying moments of the game, netting his first goal in Ligue 1.

The match looked all but over after a penalty converted by Wissam Ben Yedder for the equalizer just minutes from the end of the game. But more was needed to prevent the Lyonnais from picking up three points in the Principality on Sunday, even playing with ten against 11. And it was Rayan Cherki, at all of 17 years old, who played the hero.

It was the 88th minute and the Gone made his entrance into the match at the Stade Louis II. After a lovely bit of skill in the middle of the park, Bruno Guimarães found Mattia De Sciglio, with a through ball, and the Italian won his duel with a Monegasque defender. Rayan Cherki cut in from the right side to follow up a magnificent bit of combination play among the three, duly finishing with his left foot one minute and ten seconds after coming into the match.

17 years and 258 days. With this goal, the Lyon number 18 scored his first goal in Ligue 1 Uber Eats and became the second-youngest player to score in French football's top flight for OL. At 17 years and 258 days, his record is bettered only preceded by Bernard Lacombe, who firs scored at 17 years and 114 days in December 1969, against Red Star FC.
