A short week after their immense disappointment in the Champions League, OL had to get up and go back into action in search of their other goal for the season, the D1 Arkema title. The champions got back into action with a trip to Guingamp, one that Lyon had no other choice but to win to return to within a point of PSG. After a few seconds of play they had already shown their great determination, hitting hard and fast. The Bretons were quickly overwhelmed and Henry would score the first goal for her team. OL's domination was total, and the chances soon multiplied. Macario and Cascarino each found the net to make it a 3-0 lead midway through the first period. However, Jean-Luc Vasseur’s players did not ease off but were merely less efficient.
After returning from the locker room and playing a little more sluggishly for a few minutes, they finally did resume their march forward. Always dangerous offensively, the Lyon side continued to lack a finishing touch in front of goal or stumbled against a goalkeeper who turned in an inspired stretch of play after the third goal. She could, however, do nothing on the fourth goal, which was scored by here own defender, driven to a mistake by the threat of Malard, who was rewarded for her convincing substitute appearance at the very end of the match by closing the scoring. It was mission accomplished with comprehensive victory! The next match is Friday with a visit from Le Havre.
At EAG's training complex, Pabu.
