Match summary

Almost a month after the first leg, the Lyonnaises and Parisiennes finally got back into action on the European stage. Jean-Luc Vasseur’s team, affected by numerous cases of COVID-19 following the 1-0 victory at the Parc des Princes, had long been deprived of training and even competition since March 27. The challenge was therefore immense against a PSG in top form. As many would have thought, the goal was not just to manage the narrow first-leg lead. On the contrary, Macario only needed three minutes to give her teammates the lead on the night. However, the visitors were far from daunted by this turn of events and immediately had several chances, and logically succeeded over the course of a very intense half, one which was dominated by the visitors.

Nothing was over, then, and OL's advantage was narrow. Anything was possible, even after an unfortunate deflected own goal by captain Wendie Renard who beat her own goalkeeper to hand PSG the advantage. There was now no choice but to attack, and the experienced Henry and Le Sommer were thrown on by the coach to generate a reaction. But it was slow in coming as the minutes ticked by and the Parisians themselves remained threatening. The end of the match was wild, which clearly did not  help the bring about success for Les Fenottes, whose legs were heavy indeed. Malard, however, had a chance to hit the winner... until Endler came up with a miraculous save, one which eliminated OL from the Women's Champions League. A huge disappointment...
