Wendie Renard : "On veut retrouver cette première place"
Our captain Wendie Renard gave a press conference on the eve of the weekend's big match in D1 Arkema against PSG. The entire press conference can be found on OLPlay.

A final for the league title

“When you look at the standings, this is perhaps the most important encounter, against PSG, especially if we want to reach our goals. For the moment, we are in second place, so we want to be back in first place. It’s going to take a lot of effort tomorrow. We will have to be united as a team to score. It will be necessary to be strong, to play the role of conqueror in this reverse fixture. We are ready. It's a final, and finals are the top level. It will be won or lost in the detail. We know what to expect and what to do. We will answer the call tomorrow. I trust in my teammates and the coaches."

A frustrating reverse fixture

“At the end of the match in Paris, you could tell we weren't happy by our faces. We hadn't played well. We did not follow through on what was asked of us; there was a sense of frustration. We must not repeat the same mistakes and play differently tomorrow night. There were plenty of good chances for Paris. They built up confidence and scored in the first quarter of an hour. The reverse fixture left us feeling incomplete. I think we deserved to lose."

A big stadium for a big match

“Groupama Stadium is synonymous with big matches. There are a lot of memories there. For me it's a final, although there will be more matchdays to come. We love playing on this pitch, even though our supporters won't be there. They paid us a great tribute this morning. They came to support us. We will do everything to make them proud and happy come the end of the match."

The hunter and the hunted

“There are still several matchdays left. We have been in second place very few times, but it happens. In the past, we have been able to move back into first place. When you are a competitor, you like to be in first and hold onto it. It’s not easy for both teams as they are not used to being in first place either."

Two talented sides

“There is a great team and great players in Paris. It's a team that has known each other for a few years, that works together. There have been very few changes. On our side, there have been departures and arrivals. It's not easy to find the stability right away to perform. But at the top level, we don't have time to wait. We have young and promising players, and also a very strong core. There are no excuses. The demands are high. We have to take responsibility for what happens on the pitch."

The UWCL quarterfinal draw

“There are only big teams at this level. Of course, in the Champions League, we expect teams other than those we encounter in the league, but everything in its time. We will first of all want to prepare well for tomorrow's game; then we will have time to focus on the UWCL."
