Match summary

It was an important match for two reasons -- just a week after winning the first leg (2-0) at home and three days before a visit from PSG in D1, OL headed to Denmark with the goal of punching their ticket for the quarterfinals of the Champions League but also with the hope of gaining momentum in preparation for thier "final" in the league. The trip to Brondby, with a team that had already given them a hard time, was obviously not a formality, something that was borne out as despite a strong start to the match, Lyon conceded the opener at the same time as they lost Bacha to injury. Not to be deterred, they stepped up their pressure in the opposing half and had their reward with Parris' equalizer on the half hour. The latter then set up Malard to allow OL to take the lead just before the interval.

The Lyon machine was thus launched and regained its rhythm at the start of the second half with a third goal scored by Renard from the penalty spot. Never really in trouble, Jean-Luc Vasseur's players calmly managed the end of the match, which notably saw Henry to return to the pitch after a month of absence. The team's qualification for the quarterfinals of the Women’s Champions League was now well in hand and they could now look ahead towards hosting PSG on Saturday evening with first place in their sights!
