Match summary

It's been a busy week for Les Gones. After heading to Marseille and then hosting Rennes in Ligue 1, OL hosted Sochaux in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France. Coach Rudi Garcia logically decided to make eight changes from the previous match, but the Lyonnais did not take long to find their rhythm. Benlamri then Cornet scored in quick succession within the first ten minutes, but the reaction from an energetic Sochaux side was swift, before Cherki put his side up two again with a goal at the end of what was a convincing first half.

But an eye-catching Sochaux had yet to say their last word and were fighting to close the gap after the break. While they had made it much easier for themselves, Aouar, captain on the day, and his teammates clearly paid for their lack of efficiency in front of goal and remained under threat. Coming on in place of Benlamri, Denayer allowed his team to go back to being two goals to the good ten minutes from time before Cherki netted again, giving himself a double. The match was now definitively won; OL had punched their ticket for the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France!
