Rudi Garcia: "This team deserves to win a trophy"
“We've got Lucas Paqueta back. We'll have to see about Kadewere, Memphis and De Sciglio. We'll see if they've come back at 100%. They have to recover from some knocks -- Julian Pollersbeck will play in goal."
The Coupe de France
“It's great to play this competition. I hope the amateur teams can keep progressing. We will have to respect this Sochaux side. We have to keep a league menatality, that's important. They have some interesting players, who have played in the top flight. They’re a pretty solid team. We will have to play hard, from the first minute, to qualify over the 90 minutes. What is important is getting through. We only have had three days off and we have to take that into account. The players are in good spirits, they recover faster after a victory. You only have to look at the example of the match against Ajaccio in terms of their involvement, their effort ... Progressing depends on a lot of things. The great danger is to think that OL will win easily."
The quest for a trophy
“This generation led by Memphis deserves to win a trophy. There is a gap between saying as much and doing it, though. It’s very difficult to win the league. We will do everything we can to get to the Coupe de France final. It has to be not only an objective but an ambition. It would be wonderful to win this competition."
A chance for some players to show their ability?
"It's there in every match, for the starters and the substitutes. Even those who do not play can show their attitude, their level of encouragement, their involvement in training, and their state of mind. You have to take that into account. We will only get where we would like to be if everyone thinks about the collective."
"He is a boy with a lot of talent. He is still very young, he has to learn things. He has the ability to use both feet. So he can play a lot of positions. He really wants to be out there. He lives and breathes football, he eats football. He should even step back a little. It's good to talk with him, as he is passionate about his profession. If he came on against Marseille first, it was because he deserved it. It's easier to bring him on when you need to score than to defend. He has already made a lot of progress in his defensive work and that gives the coaching staff more confidence."
Slimani's start against Rennes
“I needed physicality in the team offensively and defensively, especially as I didn't have Lucas Paqueta. We had to be efficient at set pieces."
Two different levels of play
"There is no problem of fitness because one was the first, and one the second period. There is an opponent playing as well. It was difficult to score playing 10 against 11 in Marseille. There are no certainties when it comes to this sort of thing -- every game is difficult. All the teams have in mind that each result is very important for the standings."
A return for the fans?
“I hope they can see the end of the league season. It’s my strongest wish. It will give us even more strength to achieve something this season."
