77'. Aouar misses getting his double after a save by Gomis
Against a very well-organized Rennes team, OL were struggling to build their play to any degree, although there were few opportunities to report on either side. Anthony Lopes had little to do in his goal, while Alfred Gomis had to wait until the very end of the first half to be put under pressure, on a shot from Memphis.
OL returned in the second half with much better intentions, and Rudi Garcia did not even wait for the hour to make his first changes. Houssem Aouar made his entrance and changed everything immediately. Thanks to the midfielder, the Lyonnais were quick to put pressure on the Rennes goal and became more aggressive. After several attempts, they are finally rewarded when Memphispeeled away and picked out Aouar near the penalty spot, who gave OL the lead with a simple finish. Despite a response after the goal from Rennes, OL held their ground and recorded a more than welcome win in Ligue 1 and returned to first place provisionally ahead of their competitors' matches.
