OM–OL: Juninho, the maestro of the Olympico

When you dive into the archives of legendary duels between OM and OL, one man stands out almost every time. Juninho, the king of the Gerland turns executioner when at the Vélodrome. His time with the club remains integral to the history of OL, but he has also made his mark some 300 kilometers from Lyon, in the arena of the other Olympique. His famous celebration, the jersey shown to the Marseille fans, on May 17, 2009 has remained a massive moment in the club's annals and has even had its imitators, as in a few years with a certain Nabil Fekir at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
After making the trip to Bouches-du-Rhône for a league fixture seven times, Juninho only came back empty-handed once. Every other time, he imposed himself on the match with four wins in which he had an enormous influence. OL's number 8 has consistently silenced the Vélodrome, having recorded four goals and two assists across these seven matches!
In red, blue, white, black ... the Brazilian maestro has worn all colors in Marseille against OM the opponent he has faced the most in his career, with 16 matches, a number that is tied with Auxerre and Bordeaux. Thanks to his high technical quality, splendid free kicks and memorable goals, he has even made Marseille the team against which he has scored the third-most goals with six (behind his eight against Lens and his seven against Rennes). With all of this success, Juninho remains the maestro of the Olympico!
