Concerned only with the league since the start of the season, the Lyon team had the opportunity to start a new adventure this evening with match in the Round of 64 in the Coupe de France against Ligue 2 side AC Ajaccio. The opportunity was also given to players who had lately been deprived of playing time to prove their level, like Cherki, Bard, Benlamri, and Slimani… all of whom started alongside regulars Memphis and Cornet. To reward a very attacking start, it was the captain who set the example by opening the scoring early. The net proved only too inviting and his fellow attackers, Slimani, Cornet and Cherki, also found it too -- it was 4-0 before the teams returned to the locker room, and the Lyonnais had made the task easy for themselves.
After having been impressive offensively, OL took a little longer to regain their first half standards, despite having the bulk of possession, while the Corsicans still showed their desire to continue to balle. As before the interval, they took the opportunity to test Lopes a few times from range, after his having been named to the eleven because of the absence of Pollersbeck. The final goal came from Aouar with a penalty that he won before converting. The Ajaccian response also came from the penalty spot, and thus ended a very nice evening. The next match is on Saturday in the league against Montpellier.
At Groupama Stadium, Décines.
