Rudi Garcia : « Besoin d’entretenir la dynamique »
Between the victory against Strasbourg on Saturday and the Coupe de France Round of 64 match against Ajaccio, Lyon coach Rudi Garcia spoke at a press conference. Watch in full on OLPlay.

Medical update

“Jason Denayer is still out, but things are progressing well. Mendes is suspended."

Pollersbeck to start against Ajaccio

“Julian Pollersbeck will be in goal tomorrow. He is a modern keeper. He had to get back to a sufficient level physically. There is a good working dynamic among the younger players. It’s good that he is being rewarded for the work he does. We are behind him, we trust him. We have a lot of matches to play. This will allow us to rest Anthony Lopes."

A rotated side against Ajaccio?

“Everyone has a chance to play tomorrow. We are in the middle of a busy series of matches. The team will show some changes. The players that come in are there to show that they have quality. It's up to me to take their performances into account for the future. We will go as far as possible only if we are a united squas. Rayan Cherki had an extraordinary match in Nantes last season. This is the opportunity for a player like him to have some playing time, it's needed. We have a lot of young players in the squad. They are lucky to be able to experience what we are going through right now. They can see how they should approach things. They are learning at top speed. They have every interest in absorbing everything that they can here... The danger is in not respecting Ajaccio because they are a Ligue 2 team."

The Coupe de France

“It’s a magical competition. This competition has a special flavor. I won the Coupe de France with Lille and I know what sort of emotions that can bring. It is different from the league, which celebrates the consistency of a team. The Coupe, however, depends on many things. It's a very important match. We will have to be cautious. I know a few of their players, like Mathieu Coutadeur. He is one of their cornerstones in the midfield... I hope the amateur sides can participate until the end of the round. It’s not easy for them with the curfew. We'll come up against only good teams with good players. We will have to be at our best to ensure that the hierarchy is respected. They will have had one more day off, but it’s not that important. We have to do everything to keep our momentum going; we need to maintain it."

Memphis' form

“When you have a top player like him, on a good day he helps to win matches with his goals and assists. He also helps other players to shine, to be better. He lets us move forward and believe in ourselves more."

Sinaly Diomande is unbeaten

“Not many people on the team have not experienced a loss. He still needs to work on things tactically, on his positioning, to complement the other defenders. He is an atypical player, who has a different background. He's progressing, and that's very good. He is determined. We are counting on him as a  player. He is one of the central defenders of OL's future."
