Dijon-OL: What happened in the reverse fixture
Ten days after the end of their European epic, Olympique Lyonnais returned to Groupama Stadium and Ligue 1 action. On the program for this second Matchday, the first for the Lyonnais, was a visit from Dijon. After such a special 2019-2020 season, it is impossible to predict the state of form of the two teams, but OL had the advantage of having already played matches with high stakes. For this occasion, Rudi Garcia picked a team that was in every way similar to the one that finished last season, as the only signing so far, Tino Kadewere, was absent.
The Dijonnais surprised Lyon on the quarter-hour mark by opening the scoring through Scheidler. OL took their time to react and with 5 minutes in the half, Maxwel Cornet was awarded a penalty, converted by Memphis. Lyon then got things underway, since in the space of five minutes the Dutchman turned the game around, first by forcing Lautoa to beat his own goalkeeper, then by scoring a second goal following a superb bit of play in the area. Les Gones returned to the locker room with two goal advantage. In the second half, Memphis continued his brilliant display festival and despite Alfred Gomis' saves, the Dutchman finally managed cap off his hat-trick thanks to a second penalty which they scored with a missile under the bar. OL therefore won their first mach of the season and launched this new season in ideal fashion.
