OL - Bordeaux : Une confirmation attendue (21h, Téléfoot)
Olympique Lyonnais host Bordeaux to open of Matchday 22 in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. A week after their impressive display in the derby, the Lyonnais must build on this result to remain in touch with the top of the table.

The context

Two weeks ago OL lost their first home match of the season and getting back to playing well in the derby was imperative. A 5-0 victory over their rivals later and the Lyonnais were back in the saddle, still close to the top of the table. Their impressive display against Les Verts, in addition to being excellent for the team's morale, also reassured OL's ability to be dangerous from a variety of situations, as evidenced by the three goals scored at set pieces. The match against Bordeaux should allow Les Gones to get back to winning ways at Groupama Stadium and show that the match against Metz is only a distant memory.

The challenge

The weeks go by and the top three looks the same. Each team must keep winning so as not to be left behind and put pressure on each of its rivals, while keeping fourth place at a distance. A victory would be more than welcome because PSG, Lille and Monaco will all be facing teams at the bottom of the table and troubled by relegation, namely Lorient, Dijon and Nantes. It will also be a question of getting back to winning ways at home, which had been OL's strength in the first part of the season. Finally, a second win in a row could set into motion a new winning run, like the one that had allowed OL to momentarily top the table a few weeks ago.

The opponent

After a fairly average start to the season, Girondins de Bordeaux are experiencing a revival in 2021. Still undefeated in the calendar year, they have taken 10 points out of 12 marked in particular with a big 3-0 win away to Nice. Driven by the trio of Hwang - Oudin - Ben Arfa, the Bordelais are still struggling to be consistent over time. Capable of taking a point at the Parc des Princes or winning in Rennes, they have lost at home against Saint-Etienne and Montpellier. This lack of consistency means that Bordeaux are now in seventh place, 11 points off the podium but still in the race to grab a place in the Europa League or even the Europa Conference League. It is up to the Lyonnais to keep them as far away as possible in the table and to put an end to their good run of form. And what better way to do it than to win this Friday?
