Awards: Ellie Carpenter named best player in the Asian Confederation
She's only 20 years old and is already at the top of her game. Having joined OL this summer, Ellie Carpenter has just received a major award. The Australian international, who has immediately become a convincing presence at right back, was voted the Asian Confederation's player of the year for 2020 by a panel of fans as well as sports journalists. She finished ahead of another Lyonnaise, Saki Kumagai, who had won the award in 2019.
It’s a real honour to be awarded the best in Asia for 2020. I'm so proud to represent Australia and Asia on the world stage. This couldn’t have been possible without my teammates, staff and supporters throughout the year.
