OL - Metz : ce qu'il s'est passé la dernière fois
A few days before a visit from Metz, we look back on the last match between Olympique Lyonnais and the Messins at Groupama Stadium in Ligue 1.

On October 26, 2019, after a very tough start to the season, OL were preparing to host FC Metz for the eleventh Matchday of the championship. The men of Rudi Garcia, who was then taking charge of his third match with his new team, were in a sad 17th place, while Metz were placed just above, in 16th, one point ahead of the Lyonnais. They were thus obliged to win, in front of their supporters. Led by a very enterprising Memphis, Les Gones controlled the proceedings, and the Dutchman was the first to strike. He took the ball 30 yards from goal, made his way into the box and beat Oukidja with a strike across goal after superb bit of individual skill.

A few minutes later the Lyon captain was taken down in the area and drew a penalty that Moussa Dembélé converted. With this advantage of two goals at the break, Rudi Garcia's men were on their way to victory. Despite a few attempts in the second half, including a brilliant overhead kick from Dembélé, the score did not change. Rudi Garcia won his first match at the helm of OL, while at the same time giving some breathing room in the table.
