After having won four consecutive matches, OL headed to the Parc des Princes to face PSG with the ambition to overtake their opponent on the evening and go joint top with LOSC in the Ligue 1 table. The start of the match was full of energy, with each of the two teams trying to take the game in hand. Driven by Aouar and Lucas Paqueta, Lyon dominated the midfield and provided themselves with plenty of opportunities, but the Paris defense remained vigilant. But with ten minutes to go in the half, OL were rewarded: after another misplayed pass from the PSG defense, Toko Ekambi perfectly picked out Kadewere who slipped the ball into Navas' goal -- Les Gones would return to the locker room with a deserved advantage.
The start of the second period was played with Thomas Tuchel’s men looking for the equalizer, while OL played on the counter. Despite the pressure from the hosts, Lopes was rarely troubled, while Navas did well to keep out a powerful shot from Paqueta, to prevent the Lyonnais from breaking the match open. Guimaraes also gave himself a final chance, but was again denied by Keylor Navas. Despite Mendes being sent off very late on, Les Gones held on and left Paris with three points for the first time in 13 years!
