Lille-OL: A look back on the last win at Lille
November 18, 2016, Matchday 13
After a sluggish start to the season, Olympique Lyonnais were only seventh when they traveled to the Stade Pierre Mauroy with a record of six wins, five losses and one draw. It was not much better for Lille, as Frédéric Antonetti's men were second-to-last in the table, already with eight losses in 12 matches. This was the perfect opportunity for OL to prepare for PSG's visit the following week. Despite the absence of some important players from the team such as Clément Grenier and Christophe Jallet, Les Gones started strongly and in the third minute Maxwel Cornet opened the scoring. He was found well by Jordan Ferri and then beat Vincent Enyeama, the Ivorian only having to push the ball into the empty goal.
No other goal would be scored in this match, with Lille having been reduced to ten men in the 55th minute, after the expulsion of Younousse Sankharé. Thanks to this third win in a row, OL moved to 4th place, which would also be their ranking at the end of the season. For their part, LOSC would manage to climb back up the table and avoid relegation, eventually finishing in 11th position.
