OL - Bordeaux : Troisième victoire de rang pour les Fenottes (2-1)
At the end of the 3rd day of D1 Arkema, OL received Bordeaux on their lawn. In the pouring rain, the players of Jean-Luc Vasseur imposed themselves fairly quietly (2-1) even if the score did not reflect it as the Bordeaux women were solid defensively.

Key moments

4'. Cascarino crosses for Marozsan but the volley by the German goes wide.

42'. Carpenter takes advantage of a scramble in the area to beat Moorhouse. 1-0.

49'. Majri's right-footed attempt shot fires just wide.

57'. Le Sommer tries her luck from the edge of the area. Her shot, deflected by Gilles, sees Moorhouse caught wrong-footed. 2-0.

74'. On a long ball, Sarr recovers the ball from Renard's feet and beats Bouhaddi into the corner. 2-1.

86'. Karchaoui sees her shot narrowly miss.

88'. The ball crosses the area through Malard. Parris shoots at close range but Moorhouse makes a big save.

Match summary

After two wins in as many games (4-0 against Paris FC, 0-3 in Reims), OL got back into league action this Sunday with against Bordeaux, who entered the match ninth after two draws to start the season. The reality of the table was the same on the pitch as the hosts comfortably dominated the proceedings and obtained several chances through Marozsan (4', 19'), Henry (11', 20', 28') and Majri (12') but their attempts lacked either power or precision. We would have to wait until the 42nd minute to see the opening goal. Carpenter tried to break into the area but the ball got away from her. Taking advantage of a mix-up between Majri and a Bordeaux defender, the young Australian recovered the ball and beat Moorhouse to score her first goal in her new colors (1-0). The two teams returned to the locker room on the same score, a logical result.

The match resumed in the same tenor and OL put their foot on the ball. Technically very adept and playing with plenty of verve, Jean-Luc Vasseur’s players would double the lead through Eugénie Le Sommer. The brand new top scorer in the history of Les Bleues saw her strike at the edge of the area deflected by Gilles, which caught Moorhouse off guard (2-0, 57’). Serene, Lyon were perhaps too calm in themselves because in taking a ball off the feet of Renard, Sarr reduced the deficit (2-1, 74'). It had been 14 matches since OL last conceded a goal in D1. It was tough to see an end to the series, but the reins of the match remained in the hands of an experienced Lyon who had several new chances without managing to convert them (86’, 88’). Regardless, OL held their advantage to secure a third league victory this season as well as top position in the table.
