13th in the table at kick-off, OL had no choice but to not drop any more points under penalty of seeing the leading pack move away significantly. This first period was thus clearly dominated by Les Gones who, despite a few chances (8’, 14’, 29’), ran up against a very compact Breton defense. The attackers were trying to find a break by using their technical ability, but a one-two between Dembélé and Aouar wasa unsuccessful. Lorient controlled the ball very little (33% possession in this first half) and only had one chance, through Le Goff (43’) who ran into Anthony Lopes, who was up to the tas. The 22 players return to the locker room after a close half with no score.
Rudi Garcia took advantage of the break to bring on Memphis in place of Diomandé and return to a system with four defenders. This tactical turnaround was not quick to allow OL to make a difference, but the game adopted a completely different pace with few chances on both sides. With things more tight, it was even the hosts who would open the scoring. Released by Hamel, Wissa beat Anthony Lopes to the scoring after a check with VAR (1-0, 65’). With their backs to the wall, OL pushed back and equalized ten minutes later after a brilliant bit of skill from Dubois (1-1, 74’). Reinvigorated by this equalizer, Les Gones put a lot of pressure on Lorient, including a deflected cross from Cornet which hit the crossbar (81 ’) and an bullet header from Memphis which came close to finding the net (86’). Despite a last opportunity by Le Goff, the score would not change. OL conceded a draw at Moustoir and have now not won in four league matches.
