Women's Champions League: Six Lyon players nominated

Women's Champions League : Prix par postes, six Lyonnaises nommées
On Thursday, UEFA unveiled the names of the players in the running for the title of best Champions League player of the season in each position, namely goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and attacker. Among this list of twelve names, half play for the reigning five-time European champions.

League, Coupe de France, Women’s Champions League… Once again this year, Jean-Luc Vasseur’s women won it all, and it may not be over. As they have every year since 2016-2017, a jury made up of the coaches of the eight clubs who participated in the final phase of the competition as well as 20 journalists specializing in women's football selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) group have selected three players for each position to name the best players in each position.



The results will be released on October 1, the day of the Champions League group stage draw.


The 12 nominees


Goalkeepers: Sarah Bouhaddi (Lyon), Christiane Endler (Paris Saint-Germain), Sandra Paños (FC Barcelona)

Defenders: Lucy Bronze (Lyon), Lena Goessling (Wolfsburg), Wendie Renard (Lyon)

Midfielders: Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir (Lyon/Wolfsburg), Dzsenifer Marozsán (Lyon), Alex Popp (Wolfsburg)

Forwards: Delphine Cascarino (Lyon), Pernille Harder (Wolfsburg), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal)
