Not yet 20 years old, Melvin Bard arrived at the club in 2016 and signed his first professional contract in August 2019 before making his big debut in Ligue 1 away to Nîmes last December 6. After an excellent preseason and two substitute appearances this season against Dijon and Montpellier, the Lyon defender was also selected for the first time with the France U-21 team at the beginning of September in the company of Maxence Caqueret and Jeff Reine-Adelaide.
Olympique Lyonnais is delighted with the extension of Melvin Bard's contract which comes Rayan Cherki had done the same through 2023, thus reinforcing the club's strategy of preparing for the future by relying on promising players from within its Academy as well as experienced players. Melvin Bard: “For me, it’s a matter of great pride to extend my contract here. OL are my favorite club, that's where I have always wanted to succeed. My goal was to beome a professional, I signed my first contract in 2019 and it gives me great pleasure to extend it. I had some offere from other clubs this summer but my choice, and that of my famliy, has always been to stay at OL."
