After their opening win against Paris FC (4-0), OL followed this with trip to Champagne. Reims had opened their season with a draw after a spectacular match against Bordeaux (4-4) and certainly wanted to be a thorn in the side of another league leader. Despite ten balanced minutes, the locals would not be able to keep a clean sheet for long. Perfectly picked out at the corner of the penalty area, Marozsan delivered a perfect cross to Parris who did not hesitate to open the scoring (0-1, 9’). Stunned, the players of Amandine Miquel seemed to hang their heads and would not be able to make a chance. For Lyon, Cascarino (19’), Majri (32’) and Le Sommer (37’) would take turns trying their luck without success before the break. Breaking into the box, Marozsan tried to pick out Parris but Kravets was on the line. Unfortunately, she deflected the ball inro her own net (0-2, 45 + 1 ’). Lyon returned to the locker room with a lead acquired without much effort.
Far from releasing the pressure, though, Lyon add a third goal soon after the restart thanks to Cayman (0-3, 47') and were close to making it 0-4 but Majri missed her attempt from the penalty spot (57') . After this failed attempt, the five-time European champions were no longer really threatening despite having some chances created (61’, 72’). Instead, they managed their lead and let the minutes tick away until the 92nd minute, when Selma Bacha got a red card after a high boot. It was without consequence, however, since the match would end a few moments later. OL therefore made it two wins from two at the start of the league and are living up to their status as the reigning five-time Women’s Champions League winners.
