OL - Juventus : Last rehearsal before Bayern (18h on OLTV and OLPLAY)
Two days after a successful first outing against PSV Eindhoven (4-0), Lyon's women's team welcomes Juventus to try to win the Women's Trophée Veolia. With the Italians having won 2-1 against Montpellier on Thursday, the winner of this match will finish in first place in this mini-championship. In the event of a draw, OL would also be guaranteed to win this friendly tournament thanks to a better goal difference.
A victory would be a good way to prepare for the quarterfinal of the Women's Champions League against Bayern next Saturday. Before flying to the Final 8 of the competition in the Spanish Basque Country, Jean-Luc Vasseur's players now have the opportunity to perfect their physical condition and the rhythm of competition.
Facing PSV, with a team that was changed after the Coupe de France final against PSG, Lyon made a good impression. OL initially monopolized the ball, trying their luck from distance, before opening the scoring and ramping things up as the match progressed. Debutants Jodie Taylor (2 goals) and Ellie Carpenter (1 assist) already seem able to bring much to the table. Sarah Bouhaddi was again decisive, the young Melvine Malard had a good entry into the game, much like Nikita Parris, scorer of a double.
All of this is a good omen when it comes to facing the reigning Italian champions, who dream of reaching the highest European level in the future. This unprecedented confrontation between the two teams will therefore be a great way to gauge each other, for OL before facing Bayern, and for Juve before returning to the Women's Champions League at the start of the new season.
