Rétro LDC : trois points obligatoires à la maison face à Benfica
Before the match between Juventus and OL in the round of 16 second leg of the Champions League, the club's media invites you to relive the journey Les Gones in the 2019-20 edition.

Defeated in the reverse fixture (2-1), Les Gones hosted Benfica on November 5, 2019. Rudi Garcia's players had, between the first leg and the return leg, obtained two victories in the league: against Metz (2-0) and at Toulouse where Memphis gave the win to his team in added time (2-3). OL therefore entered this meeting in a positive dynamic and this would materialize quickly.

On a corner in the third minute, Léo Dubois crossed into the box for Joachim Andersen who rose higher than everyone else to catapult the ball into the back of the net and score his first goal in his new colors (1-0, 4' ). Ultra domineering, the hosts are not at all worried by the Portuguese club and would be able to double the lead. On the left side, Houssem Aouar accelerates, puts his head down and beats his man to  find Memphis with an outside of the boot strike which the Dutchman turns into a goal (2-0, 33’). It's the fourth goal in four Champions League appearances for the forward, which gives his side the lead at the break. Despite a big chance at the end of the first period (45 + 3’), Benfica could not break the Lyon defense.

The break seems to have done good for the visitors who return with much better intentions (49 ’, 57’ 58 ’) and neutralize OL, who react timidly (54’, 65 ’, 69’). Much better during this second half, Benfica would logically be rewarded. Playing the offside trap, Seferovic beat Anthony Lopes with a strike across goal (2-1, 76 ’). Realizing that the end of the game could be tough, Rudi Garcia’s players control the ball to slow things down, with success. Moussa Dembélé even gave himself an opportunity with a high class acrobatic move, without finding the target (88’). It was only a postponement because a minute later, Bertrand Traoré beat the defense and finished a shot from the left into the corner (3-1, 89 ’).

It was a blow to Benfica who, after their third goal conceded, could no longer believe in a win. This OL with therefore won on their turf in this fourth group match and climbed to second place in the standings with seven points, just two behind leaders Leipzig. It would now be necessary to earn points in St Petersburg to clinch qualification as soon as possible.
