NWSL : OL Reign lance la Challenge Cup contre Sky Blue (mercredi, 4h)
OL Reign, OL’s American women's football franchise, will start the NWSL Challenge Cup Tuesday night with a first match against Sky Blue Football Club.

They're back! After several weeks of shutdown of all soccer leagues, competition resumes on the other side of the Atlantic. And it’s OL Reign, OL’s American women's football franchise, which will take part in the National Women’s Soccer League Challenge Cup, a 23-match tournament with seven other NWSL clubs created especially for the occasion.

The players of coach Farid Benstiti will therefore seek a first trophy overnight on Tuesday, playing at Wednesday at 4:00 am French time with a match against Sky Blue Football Club, a franchise from New Jersey, to start off their program of matches. Deprived of former OL players Jess Fishlock and Megan Rapinoe, Ballon d'Or winner in 2019, OL Reign can still count on major assets, such as new recruits Bethany Balcer, Nicole Momiki, Sofia Huerta and Shirley Cruz , well known to fans of Lyon, who will be there to try to succeed as the competition gets underway.

Where to follow the action

The match, which will be played at Zions Bank Stadium, in Herriman, Utah, will be broadcast live on CBS All Access in the United States and on the league's official Twitch channel in other countries, such as France.

The Challenge Cup : The format of the competition

The NWSL Challenge Cup 2020 will see eight NWSL teams play 23 games in 30 days in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the end of the preliminary round, the teams will play quarterfinals according to their placement in the table. The knockout rounds will be played as single legs, with a penalty shootout planned directly afterwards in the event of a draw.
