Jeff Reine-Adélaïde : « Memphis est très inspirant et motivant » (2/2)
After having spoken for a long time about his rehabilitation, his daily life, and his sometimes painful ordeal but one which has rich in lessons, Jeff Reine-Adélaïde talked about the future of the different competitions left to play in as well as the relationship he has created with Memphis, who was injured the same day as him.

Jeff, how have you found this period of confinement?

It was a little weird for everyone. It’s a period that we're putting behind us. It feels good to see the outside world again, to live a little like before. I’ve done a lot of things that I didn’t used to do. I started to learn to cook, I'm doing well. I've also been reading.

What's your take on the end of the Ligue 1 season?

There have been mixed feelings. I have already told myself that we will not be playing in Europe next season, first of all it's our fault. We weren't good in the league. I also tell myself that the other leagues will resume or have resumed. It’s a little weird and frustrating because I did everything to come back.

More precisely, is playing in the Round of 16 of the Champions League against Juventus a goal for you?

Yes, it's in the back of my mind. I set goals before my injury. If this match is contested, I will try to be able and have all the skill necessary to play in it.

What was your reaction to the postponement by one year of the 2020 Olympics?

When I had my injury, my first goal was to come back for the Olympics. I wanted to play in them. I continued to work hard with this event as a goal. The postponement gives me even more time to prepare. I hope to play in them.

What connection have you had with Memphis, who was injured the same day as you?

This ordeal brought us closer. I don’t know if two players on the same team had ever seen ligament injuries in the same game. We try to help each other. He gave me a lot of advice. I have been listening because he is someone who is very ambitious. We have the same sporting ambitions. We want to go as high as possible. He can push a group or an individual to give the best of himself. Seeing his videos, I have been motivated too. He is someone inspiring and motivating. We will continue to support each other, help each other ... Oumar Solet is younger than us. I appreciate him very much. I chat a lot with him. I try to give him advice. We are not at the same stage of rehabilitation but I am hearing from him and helping him. The other players can also help us to get back to our best level.

Do you have a message for the supporters?

I hope everyone is well as well as their families. See you soon at the stadium for great victories to get back into Europe.
