OL – Juventus : Croire en l’exploit ! (21h, sur RMC Sport 1)
This Wednesday evening, OL will rediscover the ambience of great European evenings by welcoming Juventus for the Round of 16 of the Champions League. This is a big opponent who obviously will be the favorite, but these famous European Cup matches make the impossible possible.

The context

Thanks to a draw against Leipzig (2-2) in the sixth and last group stage match, OL won their place among the 16 teams qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League. The draw, however, was not very favorable to Rudi Garcia's side since it is Juventus that will have to be overcome to go any further. Struggling in the league in recent weeks despite  winning in Metz on Friday (0-2), OL could use this gala match to regain some of their confidence and especially to forge a result against exceptional adversity.

The challenge

With Leipzig having topped the group, OL do not have the luxury of playing the return leg on their pitch. This first leg thus takes on crucial importance. The ideal for Les Gones would obviously be to win the game, but as always in these two-legged matches, it will be vital not to concede any goals, even if it means settling for a draw. It is imperative that the club can be alive in the tie ahead of the return match, enough to make the Italians doubt, but also to arrive at Juventus Stadium with a  renewed state of mind. Like many matches last season, the Champions League can be the scene of exceptional events, and if this madness can take over OL, then everything can be possible in three weeks.

The opponent

Matthijs de Ligt, Leonardo Bonucci, Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala and the obvious Cristiano Ronaldo ... Talent oozes from every pore of this team. Eight-time Italian champion, Juventus are a colossus who have the ambition to win the Champions League like every season. Moreover, the club will perhaps be even more on alert than in previous years: while they were used to cruising in the championship, the players of Maurizio Sarri are fighting this season with Inter and Lazio at the top of the Serie A. Only three points separate the three teams and Juve are obliged to play each match to the fullest, otherwise they could see their place as leader slip to one of the other two teams. Bolstered with a Ronaldo recruited for just this kind of evening, the Old Lady seems a daunting opponent.
