 MATCH SUMMARY.

For this quarterfinal of the Coupe de France, Lyon's women;s team face off against their neighbor from Dijon. It was a difficult match against a well-organize team that had already managed to take a point against Wendie Renard's teammates this season in the league. The players of Jean-Luc Vasseur would have to be determined to win the match.

Never two without three. It was the third time that Lyon and Dijon had faced off this season and the least that can be said is that the start of the match was similar. Led by an eager Dzsenisfer Marozsan, OL are involved and diligent but despite their technical superiority, it is difficult to find spaces in Dijon's compact block. The Burgundians put in the physical effort necessary to hinder the holders. Excessive aggression in the opening minutes led to an injury to Amandine Henry on the quarter hour mark and a tactical reshuffle with the entry of Shanice Van de Sanden. Lyon remained enterprising and managed to create a few chances through Wendie Renard on a set piece and Nikita Parris as well, but the match remained scoreless at the break.

OL kicked off the second half perfectly with a high class action by Delphine Cascarino who plays a backheel on Lucy Bronze's cross (50 ’). It was a goal that just rewarded Lyon's good performance to that point. Dijon had no choice but to press for an equalizer if it wanted to continue its adventure in competition. Yannick Chandioux's players began playing higher up the pitch, which left space for Lyon. Delphine Cascarino, having a strong match, had a one-one against the Dijon goalkeeper and slipped in Nikita Parris who had only to push the ball into the back of the net (75 ’). A quarter of an hour from time, OL had made their breakthrough and ensured a rather peaceful end to the match against the Burgundians, who found it very difficult to create chances.

In an encounter where everything was never going to be simple, the essential thing was achieved for the Lyon, who qualify for the semifinals of the Coupe de France. The opening of the score at the start of the second act allowed OL to play more freely. Once again, it was a solid performance by Dijon against Olympique Lyonnais, who come out of the competition with their heads held high.

 THE REACTIONS .

Jean-Luc Vasseur

“We are very happy and very satisfied. We knew that Dijon were tough. We knew that we had to work hard in the first half to reap the benefits in the second. We were certain about our game. We could have scored more goals but overall the match was well managed. It’s too early to talk about Amandine’s injury. We'll see about it early next week. Eugenie has resumed training but not yet with the group. We have to be careful because there are still important fixtures to come. "

Amandine Henry

“We are relieved because we knew that Dijon have posed problems for us in each match. We were able to find the spaces to score today. It was probably not our best performance but the main thing is there; we qualified. I got a knock on the knee. We will see tomorrow how it's feeling. "
