Youth League : à Saragosse pour se hisser en 1/8 (18h, direct audio OLTV)
Facing the last champion of Spain at U19 level, OL have a challenge at the height of its ambitions in the Youth League, this Wednesday at the Romareda stadium (18:00, live audio on OLTV).

OL have a major duel against Real Zaragoza. Currently second to FC Barcelona in the U19 championship (17 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses), the Spanish side have done plenty to get here. Four wins and two qualifications obtained without difficulty against the Poles of Korona Kielce (1-0 and 1-4) then against the Cypriots of Apoël Nicosia (5-0 and 0-4). For its first campaign in the competition, the Spanish champions in their age category did not need to fight hard to progress through the play-offs. Lyon will thus face a moment of truth.

With the three wins in the first three matchdays (Zenith 4-2, Leipzig 1-3 and Benfica 1-2), Pierre Kalulu's team-mates ensured qualification before the last matchday. The two losses in a row suffered afterwards did not change anything (Benfica 2-3 and Zenith 3-1) and a last victory to close the group stage was ultimately immaterial (Leipzig 1-0). This record of four wins and two losses was not enough to snatch the first place and direct qualification for the Round of 16 away from the Portuguese team Benfica. But the essential thing had been achieved.

A performance at La Romareda stadium, usually reserved for the professional team, would thus enhance the promising course the team has take and show that we can, like last season, count on OL playing in the knockout phase (Sigma Olomouc 0-2).

Who will join the first eight of each group in the round of 16? The draw for the 2019-2020 Youth League play-offs has in any case some massive fixtures. The defending champion, FC Porto, will notably host the winner of the 2017 edition, RB Salzburg. As a reminder, the play-offs pit a second-placed side from each group against a U19 national champion who had passed through two rounds of two-legged ties.

Defenders : M. Altikulac, Bard, Felix, Kalulu, Lukeba, Minolien, Pontet.

Midfielders : Bonnet, Da Silva, Duku, Soumare, Thomas.
