OL – Amiens : Plus de temps à perdre (19h sur BeIn Sports 2)
OL face Amiens Sporting Club on the 23rd matchday of Ligue 1 Conforama. It's an important match following the weekend's defeat against Nice and one which will need the players of Rudi Garcia to revive their fortunes in order to resume their rise up the table.

The context

Defeated this Sunday (2-1) by a determined and revenge-minded Nice after Thursday's match in the Coupe de France, Lyon slipped up. Currently 6th in the table, they missed the opportunity to get closer to the podium, and 4th place. It was three missed points which were expensive for the club since a bad start to the season leaves only a small margin of error to finish on the podium in May. The players of Rudi Garcia remain, despite everything, on a fairly good run since this match is the team's only defeat since the beginning of 2020. This match against Amiens is the first part of a series of matches which will be challenging in February for OL; from this Wednesday, the club will play six matches in just 21 days.

The challenge

This match against Amiens is an opportunity to revive hopes quickly as possible for Lyon, since it takes place only three short days after the defeat against Nice. The goal is therefore to quickly find a path to victory so as not to lose confidence. But it would be especially a good opportunity to take three points when one considers the table. Indeed, if the residents of Groupama Stadium do not want to see the podium slip even further away, a win will be essential against Amiens. Especially since Marseille go to Geoffroy Guichard and Lille and Rennes also face off on the 23rd matchday. In this way, their direct competitors are therefore highly likely to drop points during this mid-week round. Victory is thus essential for OL.

The opponent

Amiens have had it tough lately. The last victory of the Somme club dates back to 18 December when they qualified for the Coupe de la Ligue. But their last win in Ligue 1 Conforama dates to November 2, so they are now more than three months without a win in the league. In addition, the year 2020 has been, for the Hauts-de-France club, rather negative since it has 3 draws and three defeats in six matches played. The players trained by Luka Elsner are currently in 18th place, five points off the first non-relegation place. This is a team that therefore seems largely within the reach of Lyon to get back on track in the league and regain their confidence this Wednesday.
