D1 Arkema : l'OL bute sur Bordeaux et sa gardienne (0-0)
The OL women's team could not do better than a draw in Bordeaux for the 13th matchday in D1 Arkema. Lyon stumbled throughout the meeting against the former OL goalkeeper, Romane Bruneau.

36'. Forced off through injury, Mbock (shoulder) is replaced by Buchanan.
39'. Parris' strike lands in Bruneau's gloves.
48'. A good shot again by Parris is once again stopped by the goalkeeper.
53'. Hegerberg's point-blank attempt is repelled by Bruneau.
72'. Shot by Asseyi which passes close to the goal.
84'. Superb Bruneau save to deflect Hegerberg's effort across goal.

While they had restarted the campaign last week in the Coupe de France with a big win against OM (9-1), Lyon were back in action in the league today for the first time in 2020. A big match away to Bordeaux, currently third in the D1 Arkema table, was set to be a real challenge. This was confirmed at the start of the match. Bordeaux had clearly passed a milestone this season and did not give up. The midfield battle was tough and there were few opportunities for either side to open the scoring. The big moment of the first period, other than when Nikita Parris forced Romane Bruneau into a save, was unfortunately the exit of Griedge Mbock because of a shoulder injury.

Returning from the locker room, Jean-Luc Vasseur’s players had the bit between their teeth. Everything was going faster and only the former OL goalkeeper was still resisting Lyon taking the lead. The minutes were slipping away and the breakthrough had still not been found, while the Bordeaux women showed they could still be dangerous as on Asseyi's counterattack. Wendie Renard's teammates were pushing in these last tense minutes but nothing worked, the goalkeeper had the last word each time ... and until the end. Held for the second time this season after a draw in Dijon in October, OL lost two points en route and let PSG come back to within three points.

Jean-Luc Vasseur

“We are disappointed. We missed a bit of everything today. We dropped points against a good Bordeaux team, tough and aggressive. We never knew how to find the right rhythm. There are lessons to be learned. This match was always going to be tricky. We should be able to bounce back. It's a little slap that we take but we have to start from the top. One  has to keep a low profile ... Griedge Mbock had to come off. I hope it will not be too serious. "

Wendie Renard

"It is a disappointment. We came here with great ambition and we didn't get it done. It’s a wake-up call. We're going to go back to work. We knew what to expect with this Bordeaux team. The first period was difficult. We ran out of time. It’s not a wasted match because there are some nice things to take from it but we can to do much better. We lacked efficiency. Their goalkeeper made some very good stops ... Before thinking of Paris, there are other matches. We will see how things go little by little. "
