Farid Benstiti has been named coach of Reign FC, OL's American women's football franchise.

Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to announce that Farid Benstiti has been appointed as head coach of Reign FC, the Group's US team based in Tacoma, WA. Reign FC competes in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).

Trained at Olympique Lyonnais and member of the D2 French champions team in 1989, Farid managed OL's women's team from 2004 to 2010, winning four French Division 1 titles and one Coupe de France. He won the Russian league title with WFC Rossiyanka in 2012 and the Chinese league title with Dalian Quanjian Female FC in 2017 and 2018.

Farid's international football experience, his in-depth knowledge of the Lyon club, his embrace of Reign FC’s ambitions and culture, and his understanding of OL's values were the deciding factors in the club’s selection of Benstiti to be the link that intertwines the OL identity with the specific characteristics of Reign FC.

He succeeds Vlatko Andonovski, who was recently appointed head coach of the US national team.

Recently acquired by OL Groupe, Reign FC has 2019 world champion player and women's Ballon d'Or winner Megan Rapinoe on its roster and will start its new season in April 2020.
