J-7 avant OL–Lille (CDL) : Un jour, une 1/2 finale avec OL-Cannes en 1996
This Tuesday, January 21 at 9:10 p.m. at Groupama Stadium, OL will play against Lille the sixth Coupe de la Ligue semifinal in its history. With five out of five qualifications in the past, the club of Jean-Michel Aulas has always been able to punch its ticket for the final of a competition which is going through its last season. Here's a look back on the very first with an OL - Cannes during the 1995-96 season.

1995-96 Season : OL – Cannes 1-0

This 1995-96 edition, only the second in history, remains as the very first OL epic in the Coupe de la Ligue. After dismissing Angers, Amiens and Monaco, Lyon hosted AS Cannes, another side in D1 and Europe the previous season. Having already eliminated them the season before, they reproduced their performance in this semifinal with a 1-0 win at the Stade Gerland. 19-year-old Ludovic Giuly, in his first year as a professiona and a few days before scoring the famous derby goal, gave his side qualification for their first national cup final since 1976.

Tuesday, February 13, 1996, at Stade Gerland.

CDL (semifinal) : OL – AS Cannes 1-0 (1-0)

Goal : Giuly (8’) for OL.

OL : Olmeta, Laville, Marcelo, Anselmini, Sassus, Casanova (Devaux, 86’), Deplace, Roy, Gava (Assadourian, 72’), Bardon (Roche, 63’), Giuly. Manager: Guy Stéphan.
