OL - Leipzig : L’OL et ses nombreuses « finales » de groupe
For the third time in a row in the UEFA Champions League and the ninth time in its history, OL will try to clinch their ticket to the Round of 16 on the sixth and final matchday of the group stage. These decisive matches have most often been marked with good fortune, with five qualifications from the eight "finals" the club has had to play since 2000. It is therefore by drawing on this European past that OL are able to prepare fort this decisive new match against Leipzig.

2000-01 : OL – Olympiakos 1-0 Qualification

For its first appearance in the finals, OL managed the feat of getting past the first group stage by overcoming Olympiakos on away goals after their defeat by a 2 -1 margin in Greece.

2000-01 : Spartak Moscow – OL 1-1 Elimination

Same season, next stage. While head-to-head matches taking precedence over goal difference, Lyon were eliminated after a draw at Spartak. On level points with Arsenal but with a negative balance in terms of their head-to-head results, OL left the event just before the quarterfinals.

2002-03 : Rosenborg – OL 1-1 Elimination

Two years later, the scenario was repeated: in drawing against Rosenborg (1-1), OL regretted its two defeats against Ajax Amsterdam, which qualified the Dutch team, despite the two being closely matched to the standings.

2003-04 : OL – Celtic Glasgow 3-2 Qualification

The following season, OL experienced one of its finest European nights by beating Celtic Glasgow at the Gerland, and qualifying for the first time in their history to the Round of 16. It was a historic performance that would anticipate several others to come.

Another resounding result against a rival from Glasgow in December 2007. Against the Rangers and on the other side of the Channel, OL again punched their ticket for the Round of 16 after a memorable evening.

2011-12 : Dinamo Zagreb – OL 1-7 Qualification

OL had to beat Dinamo but also make up seven goals on Ajax, while counting on a victory from Real Madrid ... The task seemed almost impossible but was accomplished thanks to a heavy win, its biggest ever in Europe (1-7).

2017-18 : OL – FC Séville 0-0 Elimination

The charged atmosphere at the Groupama Stadium and a scoreless draw against Sevilla FC were not enough. Qualification for the rest of the competition went missing despite some good performances against Juventus.

2018-19 : Shakhtar Donetsk – OL 1-1 Qualification

Behind for most of the match against Shakhtar in the cold of Kiev, the teammates of Nabil Fekir had found the resources needed to bring back the one point that they needed and meet Barcelona in a prestigious Round of 16 clash.
