 MATCH SUMMARY

A week after defeating Nice (2-1) under duress, having played nearly an hour with then men, and three days after the loss against Zenit in the Champions League (2-0), OL traveled to Strasbourg with the desire to continue its recovery in the league without suffering from  doubt instilled by the performance in Russia. For this meeting at La Meinau, where it is never easy to win, Rudi Garcia had to deal with the absences of Memphis Depay, Houssem Aouar and Thiago Mendes but could count on the return of Martin Terrier, who took his place in the starting eleven as well as academy graduate Maxence Caqueret, who would play his very first minutes in Ligue 1. But the start to the match was a little complicated for the youngster, who saw his team falter in conceding the opener to  Youssouf Fofana (22 ', 1-0). Caught cold, Les Gones would have seen the gap  widen without a big save from Anthony Lopes on a shot from Ajorque (39 '). It proved a decisive stop since OL equalized in the wake of it thanks to Maxwel Cornet (40 ', 1-1), on an action initiated  by Caqueret, who grew into the match impressively.

On level terms at the break, the two teams started the second half with as much commitment as in the first but also with some miscues, some of these the fault of a pitch in poor condition. Despite this, OL were a little more dangerous than its opponent on the day and was rewarded with fifteen minutes to play. Scorer of the equalizer, Maxwel Cornet turned creator for the head of Jeff Reine-Adelaide (75 ', 1-2), which calmed the fervor of the Strasbourg support.  And despite an end to the game played under pressure, OL managed to preserve its advantage until the final whistle. In addition to the importance of taking three points, which allows them to temporarily occupy 4th place, the way the Olympians managed to reverse the trend in a match in which they were losing, in a manner that showed courage and a strong state of mind, can serve as a source of inspiration for the future.
