. MATCH SUMMARY.

After a success won at the last minute in the first leg, OL welcomed a Benfica side bent on revenge. At the top of group G, Lyon had the opportunity to qualify with a victory today. But the match started badly for the Rhodaniens. The visitors put their foot on the ball and quickly scored a goal, eventually denied for an offside. However, this canceled opening score gave them a non-negligible advantage: confidence. With a very high block, the Lisbon side took the lead through Umaro Embaló, picked out with a long ball, the attacker winning his one-on-one with Lucas Margueron by slotting the ball into the left corner (0-1 , 29 ').

After the exit of their scorer, injured on the action of the goal, the Portuguese doubled the lead following on a succession of shots, in the heart of the area, following a corner (0-2, 35 '). At the interval, Les Gones are behind two goals to zero and must level play technically to have hope of coming back into the match. Faced with the height of the opposing block, OL have ab obligation to be more precise in their attacking transitions in the second half.

With a 4-1-4-1 system that did not bear fruit in the first half, Eric Hely's formation returned from the intervalin a 4-4-2 setup, something which immediately bore fruit. On a beautiful intervention by Titouan Thomas at forty meters from goal, Djibrail Dib takes the ball and, at the edge of the area, fires the ball into the top corner (1-2, 57'). After a first half of one-way traffic in favor of Benfica, the match is balanced and we see an Olympique Lyonnais firing on all cylinders. That will not be enough, however and Benfica even manage to score a third goal thanks to Gouveia, who dribbles past Margueron and hooks his shot into the net (1-3, 84 '). An immediate response comes from Eli Wissa, who slips the ball between the legs of the goalkeeper (2-3, 86 '), but it's not enough to return things to being level.

Despite a beautiful face second half, OL are beaten (2-3) on their own pitch and now lead second place in Group G on goal difference.
