Après OL - FC Metz : la 100ème de Tousart en Ligue 1
OL won this Saturday night at Groupama Stadium against FC Metz (2-0), on the 11th matchday of Ligue 1 Conforama. Beyond the satisfaction of the result that ends a series of eight games without victory in the league, the event to remember was the 100th appearance of Lucas Tousart in the jersey of Lyon in Ligue 1 Conforama.

Difficult beginnings

The northerner, a native of Arras, made his debut with Valenciennes during the 2014/2015 season. He was immediately spotted by Olympique Lyonnais who decided to bring him in during the summer transfer window of 2015. The player of "Generation 97" experience a complicated start with OL due to many injuries that did not allow him to to make a place in the squad of Hubert Fournier. Lucas Tousart made his name the following season, especially in his role in a double pivot with Maxime Gonalons, where he would play 33 matches and will score his first two goals in the jersey of OL (16 February 2017 against Alkmaar in the Europa League and 23 April 2017 against Monaco in the league).

A criticized style of play

Defensive midfielder, number six, sentinel ... He is a combative player not shy of of effort. Sometimes criticized for his lack of technical finesse, he is  nonetheless distinguished by an exemplary attitude on and off the field. The institution of Lyon has always highlighted beautiful ball-playing midfielders like Houssem Aouar or Tanguy Ndombele. However, Lyon's number 29 works in the shadows to allow his team to keep a defensive balance. Often heckled by the fans but praised by the coaches, Lucas Tousart  has been able to prove during these 100 matches, that he is an essential element to the Lyon squad.

An irreproachable state of mind

The OL midfielder confessed to having spent a somewhat "tricky" summer learning that he was not really included in Juninho and Sylvinho's plans. Yet, rather than giving up, the northerner resumed training more motivated than ever. By dint of his perseverance, he finds himself today a starter despite strong competition in the middle with Mendes, Aouar, Reine-Adélaïde and Jean Lucas. Not always successful, he still desired to give 100% for his team. He is and exemplary teammate and his loyalty to the club that proves the humanity and humility of the man.
