U19 NAT : Un nouveau succès précieux pour l'OL face à Sochaux (2-1)
The U19 side hosted Sochaux this Sunday afternoon at the Groupama OL Training Center, on the occasion of the 8th matchday of the National Championship.

Second against fourth in the championship; Sunday's match looked a promising affair between Lyon and Sochaux in a fight between two big sides. Two teams diametrically opposed with different styles of play but on a similar course so far; the two formations have only a one point gap between them. After their precious success last week against Strasbourg, another Lyon win against a direct competitor would earn confidence and fuel a rise in the rankings.

In this top-of-the-table match, it was Sochaux who gets the better of the game's early going by putting the OL defense under pressure. Arthur Pontet's teammates weather the storm and began to gain opportunities after 20 minutes of play. Lyon's combination play put the defense of Sochaux under pressure, but the visitors somehow resist. At the end of the first half, Modeste Duku gives the advantage to his team and allows OL to return to the locker room ahead by the score of 1-0.

Their pride wounded, Sochaux begin the second half with great intensity and manage to create many dangerous opportunities. On a corner poorly cleared by Lyon, the Sochaux take the opportunity to equalize and return to the game. From there, we were treated to a magnificent duel between two teams, both eager to get three points. Both teams played on the front foot and each created exciting opportunities. At last, the match would turn to the advantage of Lyon who would take the lead through Arthur Pontet who scores at the far post on a corner. The score would not change any more and the Lyon defenders allowed their team to take three valuable points.

After a second great victory this afternoon against Sochaux, following that acquired last week against Strasbourg which rewarded Lyon's efforts, OL maintain second place in the standings and leave their opponent on the day four points behind.

Eric Hély (U19 manager) :

"It's a good win that keeps us in second place and a good group dynamic following the win in Strasbourg last week. "
