MATCH SUMMARY .
With five victories in as many matchdays, Lyon have been at their usual standards. Impressive since the beginning of the season, OL have strung these results together in particular thanks to an awe-inspiring offensive armada. With 29 goals in five matchdays, an average of almost six goals per game, one could be afraid for Dijon, who recorded their first point of the season last weekend against Stade de Reims (1-1). In the elite for only two seasons, DFCO will have to play for its survival this season.
In the first half, Lyon are dominating possession in a one-way match. However, Dijon, who kept their shape well, conceded very few opportunities. The players of Jean-Luc Vasseur lack a little cutting edge and speed in their interplay to break down the compact block of their opponent. OL could have opened the scoring on one or two good chances but the level score at half-time is not undeserved for a brave Dijon side. The teammates of Wendie Renard will have to be more enterprising if they want to claim a sixth consecutive success in the league.
In the second half, it was not necessarily easier for the defending champions who can't pick out the final pass. On the hour of play, Jean-Luc Vasseur made an offensive change with the entry into play of Nikita Parris in place of Saki Kumagai to try to revitalize his attack. OL heavily dominate this second period but fail to open the scoring. The entrance of the returnee Shanice Van De Sanden at the end of the match seemed ready to punish Dijon, but the hosts miraculously resisted. Dijon share the spoils against the defending champions.
After a perfect run since the beginning of the season, this draw against Dijon is the first disappointment for OL's players. This underperformance by Lyon benefits PSG, who take sole control of D1 Arkema, two points ahead of OL.
Janice Cayman :
"We're disappointed; that's normal. We must question ourselves. Now we are behind Paris in the table and we have to catch up with them. We were missing finishing and desire. We also lacked realism -- you cannot win a match without scoring goals. We believed in ourselves until the end. "
Eugénie Le Sommer :
"We are not satisfied with this result, quite the contrary. We failed to score the goal that would have allowed us to win this game. It's a big disappointment tonight. We have used our cushion in the table, now we must win everything. Against this kind of team, if you do not score quickly, it becomes very complicated. "
